An interlocutory appeal filed by the Ali Sheriff’s faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was struck down by the Supreme Court.
Mr. Sheriff, insisting that he is the actual PDP chairman, was not successful in his bid to gain support from the court, which on Wednesday ruled that Ahmed Makarfi is the true leader of PDP.
In Ondo, Jimoh Ibrahim had looked forward to a favorable Supreme Court ruling which would have made him the Party’s candidate during Saturday’s gubernatorial election. Ibrahim had been handpicked by the Sheriff faction, however Eyitayo Jegede of the Makarfi faction was announced to be the actual PDP candidate by the court on Wednesday.
