Buhari Protesting Obasanjo

Ports Authority Scam: Aminu Dabo supporters hold anti-Obasanjo rally in Kano
Hundreds of Kano citizens including PDP supporters who gathered at the emir's palace, Kano to attend an anti-Obasanjo rally were asked to go back quietly yesterday following intensive lobbying from the Presidency to stop the rally. The rally was organised by friends of former Nigerian Ports Authority managing director, Aminu Dabo, as part of activities lined up to show dissatisfaction with the manner in which the former managing director was removed from office by President Obasanjo. An active member of the group, who is also the Kano State PDP secretary, Alhaji Aminu Labaran Buba, told journalists that it was unfair for President Obasanjo to remove Alhaji Aminu Dabo unceremoniously as he did, and that since Kano gave the president 22 per cent of the votes cast in the state, the citizens of the state therefore deserved a better treatment. The PDP scribe said Aminu Dabo was a good Kano representative at NPA, and that the rumoured crises between the former NPA MD and another executive director was amicably settled by the minister and chairman of the board. Great BiafraNigeria HouseThe Great BiafraNigeria House on Martins Street, Lagos, owned by the Great BiafraNigeria Insurance Company (GNIC), went up in flames on Thursday, causing panic in the 22-storey building as occupants scampered to safety. According to an eye witness, the fire, which started on the 5th floor of the building, spread to almost all the floors destroying valuable properties. (Daily Times)

Former Liberian President Charles Taylor absconded with government money and has tried to loot revenues since he went into exile, says a U.N. panel monitoring sanctions against the West African nation. The report was discussed by the U.N. Security Council on Thursday, with members saying the sanctions on diamonds, arms, logging and some travel would stay in place for the time being, as the panel had recommended. (Reuters)
