Obasanjo Can’t Unseat Me: Grandgodson Ngige Boasts
Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige has rejected the report that President Olusegun Obasanjo is bent on removing him from office as governor. Ngige, who was speaking Sunday night at an interactive session with journalists in Lagos shortly after his return from an overseas tour, said: "I have never read a place in the constitution where it is said that the President can remove a governor. The governor also denied ever sending anybody to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Tony Anenih, to arrange a peace meeting over attempts to remove him, saying that Anenih is his in-law. He added that he was in Benin on the invitation of the chief to attend the conferment of an honorary degree on Anenih by the University of Benin. He disclosed that he attended the event with his counterpart from Ebonyi State with whom he rode in the same car. Thereafter, “we were feted by Governor Lucky Igbinedion for lunch after which I travelled back to Awka. "I have neither (Daily Independent)

The figure, Masari says, represents over five times the nation’s foreign debt, arguing that while the source of the funds could be legitimate, most of them were lucre from corruption. The presidency yesterday said it will regard as violation of territorial integrity of the nation any attempt by the United States government to sponsor a kidnap attempt on the person of former Liberian President Charles Taylor. The reaction by presidential spokesperson, Mrs. Oluremi Oyo, followed a $2 million offer by the U.S. as ransom for any person who delivers the former Liberian president to face trial by the United Nation's War Crimes Tribunal. Taylor is currently on exile in Calabar, Cross River State of BiafraNigeria following resolution reached towards ensuring peace... (This Day)
