General Effiong in Biafran Flag

MASSOB, 'ANC' Clash Over Effiong's Remains: 'ANC's' Motives Unclear
The Akwa Ibom National Congress (ANC) in Lagos has condemned in strong terms, the recent attempt by the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) to effect the abduction of the remains of late General Philip Asuquo Effiong on the guise that he is their leader. The group in collaboration with the Confederation of Niger Delta (CONDEL) at a news conference in Lagos said the recent drama at Oko-Ita, Ibiono Ibom in Akwa Ibom State was an embarrassment to the youth, elders of Akwa Ibom State in particular and Niger Delta region in general, for members of MASSOB numbering over 1,000 to remove the casket of late Effiong, the Ekangkang of Ibiono Ibom who fought for the Nigerian people and finally announced the end of the Nigerian civil war in 1970. "The Biafra itself and their leaders have become a very big problem, because the first Biafran experiment was started by these same people and finally abandoned for General Effiong... (This Day)

Senate President Adolphus WabaraFor embattled Senate President, Chief Adolphus Wabara, the saying that you can run but can’t hide proved true Tuesday, as he fought desperately to stall the impeachment moves against him, by asking the clerk of the National Assembly to indefinitely postpone the Senate’s sitting. But even at that, angry senators still insisted on a probe into the alleged financial scam levelled against him and... (The Sun)

BalogunThe FCT police command has turned down an application by the Conference of BiafraNigeria Political Parties (CNPP) for a permit to stage a demonstration against what it described as a ‘rape’ of democracy by the present administration.
