Halliburton corruption in Africa

Who will Probe Obasanjo?: Presidency orders fresh probe into Halliburton $180m bribery scam
President Olusegun Obasanjo at the weekend ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to probe fresh allegations that the United States-based multinational firm, Halliburton, bribed some BiafraNigerian officials to the tune of $180 million in respect of an oil deal. The Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media), Mrs. Oluremi Oyo, while briefing State House correspondents, said Halliburton officials allegedly disbursed the money as kickbacks to secure a natural gas project in the 1990s. According to her, “the President has ordered another high-level investigation into allegations that Halliburton paid kickback to secure a natural gas project in 1990s in BiafraNigeria.
