Who Lied to Whom?: Deputy Gov. Makes U-Turn - Anenih Never Threatened Kalu
Abia State Deputy Governor, Chima Nwafor, on Thursday, made a dramatic u-turn denying that the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Tony Anenih, threatened to kill Governor Orji Uzor Kalu. Nwafor retracted in Abuja the widely reported statement credited to him as the one whom Anenih asked to pass the threat to the governor. He said he delivered Anenih’s verbal message to his boss in a memo, but denied that there was any threat by Anenih. Asked to state categorically whether Anenih threatened Kalu’s life in the message, he answered “No.” "But between you and God and your conscience, did Anenih threaten Kalu in your conversation with him?,” newsmen asked Nwafor. Tony AnenihThe alleged death threat on Governor Orji Kalu by PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, Chief Anthony Anenih, assumed a new dimension yesterday after a five-man team, claiming to have been sent by the governor’s mother, visited Chief Anenih in Abuja to plead for the governor. However, Gov Kalu speaking in Lagos denied that his mother sent emissaries to Chief Anenih in Abuja even as he said he had lost faith in the ruling People's Democractic Party (PDP).
